Professional turf preparation, installation, garden mulching and ongoing lawn care from Gordonvale to Port Douglas.

More than rolling out turf
New turf will only perform as well as the ground beneath it. We can remove old lawn and unsuitable soil, clear and relevel the yard, bring in machinery through our Bobcat operator where required, install quality under-turf soil—including Tableland topsoil where suitable—and address drainage before the new lawn is laid.
For suitable projects we can also add stormwater pits or drains and connect them to existing stormwater infrastructure to help move water away from the yard. These measures can improve drainage, but no system can guarantee against flooding, waterlogging or drainage issues during the extreme and sometimes unpredictable rainfall experienced in Far North Queensland.
Our preferred turf supplier
We work with Harden Park Lawns as our main supplier because of the quality of their turf and the support they provide after it leaves the farm. Our main recommendation is often Platinum Zoysia, but the right choice depends on sunlight, wear, appearance and the level of maintenance you want.
Choosing the right turf
Our regular recommendation for an attractive, cost-effective lawn with good heat tolerance, moderate shade performance and lower ongoing maintenance.
A premium, very fine-bladed Zoysia suited to owners wanting a refined finish, good sun and shade performance and comparatively low mowing needs.
A soft, dense and hard-wearing lawn for family yards, pool surrounds and properties needing good tolerance of shade, drought and tropical conditions.
An economical broadleaf option adapted to tropical conditions and useful where a practical, easy-to-establish lawn is the priority.
A robust Buffalo-and-Couch blend suited to many home lawns and semi-shaded areas, with an economical supply price and low maintenance once established.
A dense, fine-leaf Bermuda turf with strong wear and drought performance—well suited to active areas, schools, commercial grounds and high-use lawns.
We assess the sunlight, soil, drainage, traffic and preferred finish before recommending a variety. Final selection and availability are confirmed with Harden Park Lawns. Turf availability can change with the season, and some varieties may not be harvested when growing conditions mean the lawn is not ready or the farm is temporarily short of supply.
Complete lawn replacement
This tired apartment lawn required more than new turf. We cleared growth from the fence, removed the old surface, relevelled the area and installed fresh turf to create a cleaner, more usable shared space.

Clean edges & detailed areas
We install turf around footpaths, garden edges, buildings and detailed areas with careful cuts and consistent levels. Good preparation and neat finishing help the lawn establish evenly and make future mowing easier.
Garden mulching
Mulch helps the soil retain moisture, supports plant health, moderates soil temperature and keeps weed growth to a minimum. It also gives garden beds an immediate, clean finish.
We generally use cypress blend or tea-tree mulch for residential gardens, sourced through trusted local suppliers including Northside Raw Materials, Cairns Raw Materials and Limberlost.

Commercial gardens
Medium hoop pine mulch is a strong option for larger commercial sites because its chunkier texture gives good coverage and longer-lasting presentation. For smaller residential gardens, we generally recommend a finer cypress blend or tea-tree product that sits more naturally around detailed planting.
After installation
New turf establishment depends on the owner following the watering guidance we provide, based on Harden Park Lawns’ recommendations and the conditions at the property. FNQ Landscapes does not provide an establishment warranty because watering and ongoing care are outside our control once installation is complete.
If you would like us to help protect the result, we can provide an ongoing lawn-care program including regular mowing, fertilising approximately every three months, and appropriate weed and lawn-pest treatments.
Service area
We work across Cairns and surrounding areas, with travel depending on the size, access and requirements of the project.
